“The Suffering of IDPs”
Khalil aged 40 with a family of 7 have displaced from Abs district, Bani Hassan village like many other families. The war and its consequences forced them to leave their hometown. They have displaced to Mabyan district believing that their situation will be better and that they will be safe. Unfortunate, they faced harsh life conditions from one side and fear of cholera disease infection from another side.
“The fighting took place in Bani Hassan village where we used to live and forced us to displace leaving our farms and cattle on which we depended on as a source of income. We were thinking of nothing except how to survive from death. We have displaced to Shama village in Mabyan district having nothing from basic necessities of life. We used stones to wash clothes on and brought water in plastic bottle collected from streets. After nearly three weeks of displacement, we have received an integrated kit from Vision Hope Organization. It contains food, cleaning tools and other things. We felt relieved and we were more pleased with the hygiene items that helped us avoid infection of cholera disease that was spreading in the area of displacement” Khalil Said.
And thus VHI helped Khalil and more IDPs through RRM project which funded by WFP, UNICEF and UNFPA by providing with basic necessities of life immediately after displacement in order to be able to settle and engage their new community
VHI has played a major role in targeting displaced people affected by war or disasters in most of the governorate’s districts, starting with collecting IDPs data to items distribution and follow-up… The organization has endeavored to facilitate the distribution process and to select the nearest distribution centers for the gathering of IDPs in all the targeted districts, taking into account the security and safety of the beneficiary.
